Forum Casting Club - NE Chapter

I contacted an area high school and found out their gym is rentable for short $. I am thinking we might start a monthly casting get together as part of the Forum's NE contingent event calendar this winter.

I love the Reading Field House but $600 is steep for the afternoon, there are much more affordable (albeit not as nice) buildings for this.

Can people check into your local high school for rental cost of their gym? We could rotate thru the towns to give everyone a good shot at attending one or more until the spring migration.

We can get folks in our ranks to make short presentations between casting times and hold a friendly competition at the end like we do at Reading. I am sure we can get a guest instructor to show up each month. I have been working on a distance casting / loop refinement presentation and wouldn't mind some guinea pigs.

If interested, please post location and cost of rental for a weekend day or weekday evening here:

what a good idea. I'll check some places out up here, but being in Maine (end of the line) I am afraid that participation might be low.

Ri

We can rent out the Gymnasium in East Greenwich, RI for $130/Day on a weekend. Not a bad deal if we can get at least 10 casters.

Rhody

Sounds like there is sufficient interest for Rhoddy. I will post a thread after the holidays and see what works for dates.

Talking

I will be around to help anyone, long as it is in RI, or closeby Ma. I could bring a few rods, from a 2 weight to a 15 weight. Maybe I could even wakeup Capt. Ray. I will have to look for a video I have of really long distant casting. Which was taken out on a river, never cast that far even in a field house.
