Roop?

Is that Jeff with the FA, and on a flyrod? Did you get permission to leave the pharside, or was it under the cover of darkness?

PharSide separation anxiety...

The guy with the phish is yours truly...
For me it was Saturday, but the Right Honourable Roopster had to work 'cause for him it was Friday...(in Dartmouth MA, no less)...
My return journey on Rt195 took me within shouting distance and, you can be certain, I rang him up and rubbed it in...
'Heard about a roll-over on the east bound mid-cape near exit 2 and had plenty of time to alter/refile my flight plan...
Always good to escape the DarkSide!

Great shots Pete. That's the camera to get. I'm going to get one when I can like you suggested. Great report. FishHawk

Hey Pete,
This is awesome. Looks like you guys slammed 'em.
Look forward to next spring.
Cheers,
DK
PS, Canada now has one less whitetail. Good 4x4, sharp sticks still work, details later...,

Phishers Island...

Still holding t-tails/blues/stripes...
Went out yesterday, in spite of windy second thoughts...
Race Rock and the back side surrendered a slam dance...
The 4 mile ride back to Groton was nasty as the wind stacked up a big phat mess...
...'still a fandango along RI/CT...
Yikes...See you at the Marlboro show in 3 months!?
I think I hear the Fat Lady warming up but...

When freshly dead, the anchovy backs had a brownish tone that quickly paled after they expired...
The t-tail fly of choice did the deed nicely...other offerings just couldn't cut the mustard...
My stripes/blues took larger mostly white streamers with bite wire.

That bait is pretty sad looking but I've got a fresh mental picture of them from last week.

Pete, that fly looks exactly like the bait we saw off watch hill, they may be just a tad longer now but the color, profile and translucent tail are right on. Looks like a Page Rogers but thiner. Do you have a recipe for that fantastic looking fly?

Off the top of my head...

#2 +/- wide gape hook wrapped with pearl body braid...
light/clear mix super hair high tyed sparse near head and pulled back to form body...
several strands of contrasting flash to insinuate lateral line...
sparse medium redish brown super hair to insinuate signature coloured back...
5 minute epoxy applied a la surf candy style...
super hair pulled back to form body shape while epoxy sets...
foil holographic eyes applied...
2nd epoxy coat to form final shape...final cure as required..
optional hard-as-nails to hopefully retard yellowing and possibly improve durability...
apply salt water and introduce to a phishy t-tailed phocus group...
250-300gr sink head/7-9' stealthy leader/good drag/9wt/BEWARE the HIGH STICK!

Now, "someone" will claim this as her very own, publish, be very famous in her own mind and become the envy of all her adoring phishing groupy fans/uninformed unsuspecting sheep...

Pete,
You have a covert cam in my kitchen cause that fly looks surprisingly similar to the one I have been fishing the last teo seasons. I scaled down this year to size 4/6 of that pattern and it seemed to work better than last season. Looking pretty large lady like down here and I can hear her practicing her scales not to far off. Capt. test a week from Wed. studying like a grade schooler and it hurts, but it will be worth the effort I hope. A vessel restricted in her ability to maneuver blah.....blah......blah
