Moonlight -

Grewingk Glacier, feeding into Kachemak Bay. Fishing off of the Homer Spit... Not terribly glamorous for Alaska, but can't argue with the hundreds of fish stacked up and moving by that beach.

As far as Juro's proposal, all for that! Just make sure there are prizes for us boat-less guys that have to wade the shallow stuff!

okay, i'm gonna set it for the weekend of august 12-14th of 2005.

juro, if the dates don't work for you, please let me know if some of the alternate dates mentioned in the thread work better.

it may seem early, but i need to know so i can get a head start on next salmon season.

bring your boats and fly rods. if anybody wants to lead some of the beach fishing, feel free to take a lead role.

Can't wait!

I don't see any conflicts at this point in time and have it on the calendar. Never too early, especially since we might try to chip in to grab a bigger lodging arrangement and split it to get the price to very affordable levels.

Another option is to camp and we all bring a share, usually the more at camp the better the camping in terms of having everything we need on hand.

We could have a fresh salmon barbeque on Sat PM dinner, break out your best grilled salmon recipes.

A chinook on the fly contest might be in order.

If we're lucky we will get Chuck H to hold a west coast scotch tasting after dinner.

great, glad the dates work. they are now in the calendar.

of course, there are motels available but i was going to talk to gordy at the cape and see if i could reserve a entire corner of the campground for us. there would also be one rv spot available in the corner i'm thinking about (the back corner where i am permanantly anchored).

a bbq sounds great.

juro, feel free to e-mail me (topwaters@msn.com) or call me to discuss possible raffles, etc. you have been to numerous claves, and i would appreciate any and all advice to make this one measure up.

I plan on sailing up from the Hood Canal for the clave. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Now if Kush would just lend me that Jet sled to tow behind my sloop.

There is enough time to plan this outing so that it will be the best ever. The challenge is the availability of skiffs for everybody. Food not a problem, sleeping in a tent is not a problem. (its usually to hot in mid August)!

Any way we can move it up a week? I need to be in Lake Ontario the following weekend for a Spey Clave and prefer not to do back2backs away from home.

Any objections to Aug 6-7?

thanks in advance.

the earlier weekend will work as well for me as the original dates. i have trips during the entire time frame, but would be happy to help out with camping arrangements and whatever else i can in the neah bay area.

fishing has started off a bit slow, but fish are starting to move in... and i can remember past years that started just like this and then exploded. hopefully the wdfw sampling doesn't screw us this salmon season like they do during halibut season. the first week's catch numbers from wdfw looked high to those who spent time on the water (we supposedly caught 4.5 % of the coho quota on the opening two days).
