Freezing Fingers Report

Fished in central MA on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The high temp was supposed to be 42 but my guides were still icing up around 1pm in the sun. Broke off a nice fish on the first cast which proved to be a bad omen. The afternoon was beautiful but slow fishing. Stumbled across some fish that were hanging out under a tree and finally scored as the light was fading.

Cranked the heater back at the car and just sat there for a while. Hopefully the weather holds out for a few more weekends...

Yeah, Dave!

Man, you and I have never met, but your a hearty old dog, cut from the same cloth, me thinks! Keep plugin there in Tax-a-chusets and I'll do the same here in Ore-gun!
Good report.

Deerhawk

Sean, I'm pretty sure Deerhawk was directing his comments at Dave.

I don't think you qualify yet as an "old" dog.

Ice in the guides is what we had Tuesday being well over 6500 feet looking at the snow covered mountain tops. The two of us where the only ones at the lake. We shared the lake with two eagles who made the ducks pretty uneasy. The only problem we had was the trout did not start hitting until sundown. Of course the temp started to drop from the warm 40 degrees. We fished into the darkness catching small bows and a couple a browns. The guides were iced, the fly line was raspy feeling from the sheet ice that formed around it. A few times I thought I had missed a big one only to realize the fly line had broken free of the guides icie grip when I did my stripe. It was just a great day to be fishing with my son.
