Sedotti's Slammer

I have been looking for tying instructions & picture for Sedotti's Slammer for some time now and to no avail. Does anyone know if this information is available online someplace? Thanks.

Bob has written a beautiful article about Spey flies in <!--http--><a href="http://www.flyfishingforum.com/expertise" target="_blank">the Expertise page</a><!--url-->. Be sure to check out <!--http--><a href="http://www.enhanced-designs.com/veverka/" target="_blank">his Homepage</a><!--url-->.

RE:Sedotti's Slammer

Thanks guys. The picture & instructions on the website are great. I think I will pick up Bob's book anyway - it looks like he has some nice stuff in there. Now if you will allow me to further push my luck - the Slammer calls for the front bucktail to be tied in "hi-tie" style. I'm pretty sure I know what this is - stacking the material to give the fly a wider profile? I'm not sure how to go about this, though. I have some store-bought flies that have employed this method, so I know how it's supposed to look when it's done. Are there any sources that depict this technique step-by-step? Thanks again.

RE:Sedotti's Slammer

It is quite simple. You tie along the top of the shank. It would be like tying the polar fiber minnows, Tiedown a "small" clump on top ,working forward. Then another small clump right in front of the first clump. working toward the eye. the key is that you don't pile the ties on top of each other, but next to each other along the top of the shank... Doing low tie along with high tie is the same except on the bottom of the shank and you would pile up the low tie over the adjacent high tie piece. Anyway.. I hope you understand somewhat.

Sounds like a good case for animation! I hope to be bringing that into the picture real soon thanks to your contributions. Not sure if we can handle the cost of Macromedia Flash at this point but I love to draw digitally and with Flash all of these things (knots, Spey casts, fish movement in tide current, etc) will all be streamed and easy to make. This tying sequence would be particularly good in Flash.
