Our Beaches have finally Turned on!

My buddy and I woke up early AM to go out and celebrate the 4th in style by catching some Stripers off the rocks. So we began walking down the beach and with line in hand and fly ready to be served.. picked up to squirly fish by sight ing boils in minimal surf. Once we were out on the rocks We picked up a bunch of fish with the largest only be 26. .... but anyways cutting to the sad reality, I had to be at work by 9:00AM so we started to head back to the car. Perhaps this was one of the more painful experiences of my year thus far, because our sun angles are the best they are going to be all year up here in Maine....... and the wave faces were holding clean and clear as glass.. stripers.... Big Fish transiting the shoreline plain as day.. I casted to 3 big fish, but due to the still early sun angle I didn't have vision in the direction they were travelling from. ... It took alot of self control/stupidity to leave that beach to get to work.... Any way the water up here is crystal clear and the fish are on the beaches. There will be sight fishing yet

I fished this morning in Scarborough cought one 22". Only fished for about 35 minutes or so, took hime this tasty slot fish for chowder. First, and possibly the only take home or fish this year. I don't keep many but Brenda likes striper and she is convinced I tell her fish tales. Will be making more forrays now that the trpouting has slowed.

That looks like a place I visit annually, the last weekend of July. I believe I'll hit the bottom of the outgoing this year, which I like.

I know that spot very well. I spent many a night there on outgoing tides back in the 1990s.

Very fishy!

FishHawk,
I hope to get down this fall. I had hoped to hit the Bone' Clave but I need to greese the skids with the wife so we are off to Newport for a long weekend. Maybe I can sneak away with the boy for a little casting practice.

Fred,
If you're up this way drop me a line and maybe we can go fishing together.
