What Fly Is Right?

I AM A VERY NEW FLY FISHERMAN, I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. BUT HAVE REALLY BEEN STRUGGLING WITH EVERYTHING FROM WHAT SIZE TIPPET TO USE TO WHERE ARE THE FISH. BUT I THINK MY ONE BIG PROBLEM IS WHAT FLY TO USE AND WHEN TO USE IT!!! HOW DO YOU KNOW? I HAVE READ ALL KINDS OF BOOKS & VIDEOS BUT WHEN I GET OUT THERE I JUST NEVER SEEM TO KNOW? UP INTIL LAST WEEKEND I HAD ONLY CAUGHT ON FISH ON MY FLY POLE AND IT WAS A FLUKE. I THINK THE FISH WAS COMMITING SUICIDE. BUT ANY WAY I LIVE ON THE SOUTH FORK OF THE SNAKE RIVER IN IDAHO AND HAVE THE OPORTUNITY OF GETTING TO GO FISHING ALMOST DAILY BUT FLY FISHING HAS BEEN VERY HARD. PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE. THANK YOU
