Striper & Weakfish fishing great on Long Island

Weakfish seem to be making a great comeback this year, here on the north shore of Long Island. Stripers are going strong, yet to see any blowfish, fluke are as always good, and I have not heard anything on blackfish but I have a feeling they will be better then usual this year.

Just a North Shore report.

Wishing the boat was in the water right now

ashbourne: since your posted "location" is the Catskills, I'm just wondering how you were able to provide us with the weakfish/striper report here on Long Island? Since you concluded with "wishing the boat was in the water, etc", are we to assume you fished from the Long Island shoreline to get this positive fishing report? If so, were you fishing on the north or south shore of Long Island and what, if anything, did you catch and on what flies? Any info you care to provide is greatly appreciated.

I live on the North Shore of Long Island, but fish mostly when I get away to have place I have in the Catskills.

I went fishing a few days ago and caught a few flounder. I have yet to go out fishing for more then a hour or so at a time but a good friend of mine has been catching stripers and weakfish. Not sure what he used but I caught the flounder on a simple yellow and white buck tail with a 1/4 oz head.

I have yet to get any news from the south shore or from in side the forks but up here we are having a great year so far. The last few years things have been bad, lobster are still harder to catch and I have not seen a blowfish in a long time.
