Joisey Stripers?

Was out testing the waters last week at Sandy Hook, North Beach, and to my rookie eyes I saw no evidence of bait or fish. The bait guys weren't catching anything either and the birds looked like rubber duckies. Has anyone else had luck or heard of any action in the region?

I was down in LBI yesterday with my fiancee's uncle (supposed to go to the pike clave, however we had to make a last-minute trip to NJ instead); stopped in at Fisherman's Headquarters and the report was that small fish were in the surf, going after clams and other bait. There was some pretty strong wind coming in off the water, so we decided to fish the other side and had no luck with flies or on spinning tackle. The weather got nasty as that front pushed in and we called it a day, though there were some guys walking up with baitfishing outfits as we left. It seems like the action's slow at the mo'. I might make a trip this Saturday to LI or the Hook if the reports start looking more positive by mid-week.
