Canadian Brook Trout Patterns?

I am planning atrip to Guerin Lake Ontario june 5-12, for walleye and northerns,: Brookies are a bonus in the river feeding the lake. I am looking for any info and advise on patterns, expected hatches, dries, wets, streamers, any info would help me pare down gear. Anyone "been there done that" ? Thanks . ~JRD

I haven't been there specifically but I've fished a bunch of brookies in the past. I would recommend that you seek information as to what is going on in the area and try to "fit in" biologically speaking.

For instance, I found some wild brookie streams in the NH / VT border region and was able to hook a bunch of them using two methods - #1 was the use of smaller hopper patterns along cut banks where these fish grew up eating hoppers in summer, and #2 - wooly buggers which I assume imitated the thriving crayfish population.

Funny how along the cut banks the hoppers were hit with abandon while under the forest canopy the darker buggers worked so much better, and vice-versa even on the same watershed.

So if you are going to a place where they prey on sculpins or even small rodents, when in Rome...
