Eastern Long Island "Blitz'clave"

Now that I'm in NY, I'm ready to head out to the East End this Autumn for the blitz on the point. The question is, would anyone be interested in a 'clave out there? A few days, maybe get a guide or two for a day, stripers, blues, albies as far as the eye can see (at least, this is what the reports and Peter Kaminsky's book have led me to believe). There are enough of us in the NY/NJ and New England area, a 'clave shouldn't be too hard to get together. Any thoughts?

I would most interested in this. Have friends near Sunken Meadow State Park and Smith Town. LI is a great place to fish for stripers. When were you thinking of this in the Fall?

Sounds like a good fall plan. Always wanted to do Montauk. Tons of Kayak and sight fishing possibilities out there too.

Yes, Montauk is specifically what I was thinking about. As for the date, I'm not certain. Mid- to late-October and early-November are the times to be there, so far as I know. The trouble is that... Denise and I are turning... 30... <<gasp!>> on the weekends of October 17th and 24th, respectively (yes, she's exactly one week older), so those weekends are out for me. The following weekend is Halloween, which for me wouldn't be a problem, but it might for those of you with young children, or those of you that like to terrorize trick-or-treaters . Other options would be early November, and it's completely free for me. Any thoughts?

I would love to get together in Jersey, but I wouldnot be able to do a Montauk trip at that time of year. I will be getting Married on Oct 17 and will be on honeymoon for the next 10 days . Island beach in the fall would most likely be a good possibility. Please keep me posted.
Thanks,
triston

So it looks like we'll be having get-togethers in Montauk and in Jersey. Let's start throwing some tentative dates out there...

Eastern Long Island "Blitz'clave"

May I humbly suggest that the beaches in Joisey Jetty Country (all the way up to Sandy Hook) can be amazing in the fall, too? Seriously, a Joisey 'Clave in spring or fall would be a lot of fun. Count me in, and I would be glad to help meister such an event.

Grego, when you comin'?

Best regards,

-Doc

I'd be interested too! There's a few good ramps in montauk for those that have boats. I never been to a clave before, is this strictly a beach deal?

I would vote for mid October. In November the weather can get nasty. As for Montauk it gets very crowded out there and not much room for the shore bound angler. There would be plenty of company that's why I would pick a alternate less crowded spot.
Just my .02 of what I have seen out there.
