I heard a rumor of a 31lb native bonked on the Skagit last week, investigation underway...

Kerry,

I saw this in the newspaper too. Glad to see that there are poachers caught at times and it is nice that the Skagit Valley Herald has always been very willing to publish the info. I'm sure once they get the guy's name, it will also be published. I'll also make a wager that the dude didn't bother to buy a fishing license either.

The reporter was slightly off on the possible consequences for him though. He could be fined up to $1,000.00, lose his fishing gear, lose his truck, lose fishing priviledges for up to 5 years, and spend a year in jail.

Gilligan Creek mouth , Lyman Bar, and Presitin Creek mouth are some of the most used by local poachers. It is nice to see that wildlife officers from the state and feds are "stopping by" in these areas more often than in the past.
