Similar strategy as the D.T. Herring Tube Phly...this one all black hackles and bucktail with some dark flash...
14" with epoxy head.

John...
See you at the Den...FlyFishTheCape March 2nd...Probably!?...
Don't bother checking the CAC...the rogue bikers, who have been staying there, trashed the place so badly that it was easier for them to torch it than to clean it...
You can stay here any time!

Cripes, that's a big fly! This may be a silly question, but what do you throw that with, and what's the maximum casting distance (approximately)?

It's a BIG phly but...

I'm fishin' tidal creeks and structure, after dark flatz, or das boat...
There's no need for casts greater than 60'...
I intend to use it after sunset when winds are less of a concern...
When wet, the feathers/fur flatten and drag is reduce...'just another BIG phlat wing thing!
I've just cast this on the lawn (cold!) with an 8wt and 80' was no problem but I will be using an over lined 9 or 10wt to better manage bulky stripes...also...FWIW
'Waiting for my Atlantis...Mugs away! ALL bets are OFF!
