Flyfishing Forum Hat Project Status

Hey gang, thanks for the interest in hats.

Unless someone else wants to take the lead, I am going to spearhead the hat project for 2004. Here are my goals:

> Quality before savings, a durable and stylish all purpose fishing hat.

> New logo for 2004, although this introduces a significant cost addition to create the embroidery tape file.

Make at least enough margin on the project to make it worthwhile, all of which will be used for forum and speypages costs.

So I am thinking tactel, because the material is simply superior in all kinds of weather, washes well, resists wear, and is kinda like the high quality of our community.

Approach:

We will put up an order form. If you order, consider it to be the real deal in other words do not back out. If there is any hesitation do not order as there will be a database behind the on-line form.

You will have a choice of colors, second choice, third choice. The only guarantee is that you will get one of these choices, but if we do not meet the minimum lot sizes per color scheme we will not order that color. Also if there are a few odd orders they will be moved to another color in the order that the commitment was made.

Price:

Tactel is not cheap, but it's the best. I am not sure how much it will cost but I will price on the assumption that we will sell 100 hats. I will post when I hear back.

Logo:

Unfortunately we will have to agree on one logo since the cost of setting up the embroidery machine is too high to mess around. Of course we do already have the last hat run's design tape so we could offer that as an option without associated costs.

So that means there will be two options, old and new.

I will put up candidates for a new logo shortly. If anyone else wants to put up a logo they should do it in a form that can be converted into tape; EPS or maybe pdf with (n) color process in mind, I will check on options with the vendor.

Money collection:

If possible we will offer an on-line purchase mechanism. Paypal will also be supported.

Dark underbrim?

Juro,

Will these hats have a dark underbrim for the sight fishing enthusiats? Not sure if that will add to the cost. Also, not sure but does Tactel also mean UV protection (for the pigmentally challenged) like most shirts offer.

But of course

Although a real flats rat hat would have sideflaps, the design does not lend itself to all uses for members. I will get a flats hat price as well although it could complicate things a bit why not.

Oops...

I assumed that was the style you were referring to. I have been looking for flats hats for the Bahamas so I never thought otherwise. My bad...

We will be able to get a flats hat in the order provided there are at least 12 in the order. The flats hat can not have the URL in the back due to the drawstring assy.

Personally, I am extremely picky about my flats gear so can not speak for this particular model. The vendor is known for being the best in the buisness so they should be pretty good although design is as important as material and workmanship.

The under-brim color is the same as the brim color.

There are three styles:

1) solid and two-tone tactel caps

2) extra long bill solid tactel colored caps

3) flats roll-up flap tactel hats

Count me in for at least two hats. I imagine you'll post pics of the hats ahead of time for the members to look at?

Mine are covered in sweat and fish slime. Time for a few new ones.

Thumbs up Works for "The Redhead" and I.

"She, whose is to be Obade :hehe: " Needs an extra large.

Well, skip the two puppies ... they're still working on "whose on first?" (Saki's hiding under the bed ... but we have done at least one 'nose on nose ..' and Old Cat-Type was the clear winner.

Put me down for one long bill hat and if needed, I will take a flats hat as well.
