Slinky Fiber Blue Crab

Here is a slinky blend crab. You can use other similar material.. This is an easy crab to tye and would come in as many colors as you have slinky blend. I did this as a tropical blue crab. The two fiber colors I used was sea mist green and seaweed green topping. The second picture is what this looks like with your easy initial applications .. This has a dumbbell weight. So not a lot of material. This is similar to the Bonefish Buster Crab..but that one is done with Yarn and goop.(If you work with goop you need to use photoflo so you can work it into the material.) Once you have your initial bunches tied in ,you soak the material in softbody (or softex)... once this is set.. it's easy to just cut it to shape by cutting the shape of the crab... not a ton of material and I think will give the cruchy feel. I will do some of these in brown and try them out this summer. BTW- the eyes are in there and are the ball and string kind.

crab pattern

I am not familiar with slinky. It that the fiber that you used? Where do you get it? Did you use Softex as the only binder/coating?
Thanks

It's a fiber similar to super hair except thinner and kinkier..if that is helpful.... it is similar to Neer hair and puglisi fibers only thicker and easy to work with.... I simply buttered the entire fly as in the second picture until it set with soft body, instead of softex since I would prefer using softbody instead of softex. Then I tinkered with it.. it became rubbery and I "squeezed" in into shape..flattening and squeezing... then took scissors and cut it to shape... then squeezed and flattenned to finsih it off.... after a couple hours it set more ridgedly.
