Binge Tieing

I saw a photo of some flies like this, and thought it would be fun to try them.

Thread: 8/0 Uni.
Hook: 2/0 Tiemco 7999
Tail: none
Tag: Small silver mylar tinsel.
Base layer of green nylon floss;
1st rib = yellow nylon floss;
2nd rib = medium embossed silver tinsel on top of and just behind the yellow floss rib;
3rd rib = counter wrap #10 oval silver tinsel over the hackle.

Cock tail feather (sold as spey hackle by Hairline, cheep too, about $3 for a package of strung feathers). Strip the barbs off on side and tie in the tip then wind the hackle along the rear edge of the 2nd rib. These feathers are abut 6 to 8 inches long with a small flexible stem and all web. I used about 1/3 of the feather.

Natural mallard flank.
Bronze mallard. Tie the wings one at a time with significant over lap to get the hooded effect.

Good to see not everyone had succumbed to "Intruder Madness". Very nicely tied.
