Sean,

A fly of this style (hackle wing streamer) really should be tied on a long shank (6x to 8x long) streamer hook or the body is way to short in relation to the wing causing the fly to be unballanced. The wing is also tied much too high for good swimming and proper action. The wing should hug the body to avoid it causing the fly to turn on its side and swimming erratically when fished.

good looking fly. go ahead and tear it apart, but if it works, why change it??? i have caught a lot of fish on flies uglier than that.

it is mainly for bass but was "inspired" by spey flies so it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as it catches bass which i am sure it will

i'd like to get into tying speys but i would never get a chance to or want to fish them

Nice!
I've been experimenting a little with spey style lately. Most of my creations are setting on top of my bulletinboard at work though. I like to see the look on peoples faces when they walk by. Most common responce is "What the H#LL is that susposed to be?!?!" I try and come up with something technical but they always seem to see right through it. I'm not even sure if it's even a real spey style. I'll bring my camera to work tomorrow and post a shot of them.

Later
