Spent Sunday and Monday fishing these 2 classic NE rivers on the NH border.
Sunday was a downpour which is just what the doctor ordered to keep everybody off the water (except yours truly). First time I have fished the area in years and not seen another soul on the water. Slow start to the day but after cycling through my flybox, I found the right ones and began hooking up. Tough fishing with shallow water and painfully slow flows. Pine needles everywhere. Ventured to some less popular areas and hooked a nice holdover rainbow. Glad to see that fish survived the summer considering the low water conditions.
Monday more of the same highlited by a beautiful holdover brown with perfect fins and fall spawning colors. Just a beautiful day to be on the water with the leaves turning. Others were enjoying it too, including a very bold fox walking the riverbank and a bunch of turkeys roosting on a branch overhanging the river.
