Just spin some deer hair on a hook and clip it to look like a piece of bread.

John Goddard wrote an article last year about catching tench and rudd on a bread fly. He gives two suggestions for patterns; either white ostrich herl wound over a white wool underbody, or even simpler, 2-3 turns of white marabou wound as a body. Both were tied on a #16 hook. The trick seemed to be to aim for a rather shaggy, untidy dressing to imitate a torn flake of bread. The photograph of the marabou fly has a couple of fibre ends projecting at angles to help it achieve the untidy look of the 'natural'.
