Blue & Purple Pheasant

I just realized that most who read my response to Grandpa Spey regarding flies and such for silvers are not familiar with the Blue & Purple Pheasant I mentioned to him for upstream, somewhat dour silvers. So here it is.

hook: #6 or #8 salmon iron
tag: oval silver
body: purple braided mylar, oval silver rib
wing: powder blue (very light blue) calf tail
hackle: blue phase pheasant rumph

Blue & Purple Pheasant

This is a beautiful fly, and I will have to tie some from my future trips.

Thanks for posting the picture.

Grandpa Spey,

It also works well for Searun Cutthroat and Summer Run Steelhead.
