Up from the bottom or down from on top?

A quick question for folks - I was curious - do you think the fly sits flatter on the surface of the water if you thread the tippet up through the hook eye from the bottom or down through the hook eye from the top? I am wondering if the "approach" choice makes a difference in the rate of a fly occassionaly doing a headstand in the water (which is probably more due to a need to mend line post cast...)..

Enquiring minds want to know....
