I just had a question as to what type of line i should use?

Floating
Intermediate
Sinking

I know most fish are well below the surface but do I really need sinking line? Post answers here or mail me! th3ro0ster@yahoo.com

Welcome!

I think the right answer requires a little more info...

Do you fish from the beach, a boat or estuaries? Are you going for roosterfish on the fly?

In general...

In the northeastern US coastal flyfishing scene, intermediate or sinking lines rule, with some limited floating line use.

In the tropics, floating or intermediate lines rule with some limited sinking line use.

In the pacific northwest of US and Canada, intermediate and sinking are most common with some real cool floating line surface fishing for salmon by guys like Leland Miyawaki.

Intermediate is the all-around best choice initially but you might need other lines for surface or deep presentations.
