After spending a day on the river with Doublespey, I managed a little inspiration from his low water Intruder variations...obviously...I didnt manage a low-water tie but the emu and machined eyes are Brian's idea.

This is a tad more 'low water' but anyone that has seen my flies, knows that I do have trouble tying 'low water' flies!! :hehe:

I can't believe that I was out with Doublespey and Sparky with their Intruders. I felt like a "classic" sandwich.

Leland.

Between my rabbit matukas and Brian's mini-Intruders, I do believe Leland's Low Water Freight Train Spey was running scared!!

Cool Creepy!

Those little buggers are pretty frightening creatures. The Steelhead flytyer's gremlin.

And if Ed ever sees these threads, he'll realize what a cult following his fly has developed.

Leland's classic speys had reason to be scared!

Sadly, I think the Intruders may have scared those shy little Deer Creek steelies away too.

It was fun to be out on Independance Day. Bottle rockets exploding over our raft, large beach parties with plenty of questions for us as we floated by, a few unusual sites (barechested hippie in the weeds, etc.) were just a few of the non-steelhead related highlights of our marathon float.

Hope y'all had a good 4th too!

DS

It really was one Hell of a good 4th...Leland and Brian are class acts! ...and a float through Tarheel Country is always filled with interesting encounters!

...and if only my Intruders were as cute and sexy as Kush's!!

Oh well...
