since Charlton is closing up shop, you should be able to find some pretty good deals soon. Too bad, I love my 8550c.

so...

...does that mean they will be given "collector's status" and fetch BIG $$$'s?
...or will they be relegated to Railroad Salvage or a blue light special?

either way...great reels!

Are they closing up shop in terms of manufacturing. I notice they're being advertised by Sci Angler. Does that mean 3M bought the name and design and they're being made elsewhere?

As I understand it, 3M bought it, invested heavy in machinery, built up a huge inventory, then shut it down.

There are a lot of reels in stock, so you should not have a problem finding what you need.

Jim at Just Reels has most of them in stock, and he is a good guy, to boot.
