Nm 06/17

Beautiful weather (finally). And fish from the time I arrived until the time I left.

Steady NE wind, but not too much of a problem. Cool. And plenty of sunshine to see them cruisin'. Lots of schoolies with several keepers up to 36 or so in the mix, all sight fished.

Despite lots of fish, overall conversion ratio is still inexcusable. Also haven't quite figured out how to consistently convert on those bruisers at the front of the pack versus the scrappy little fellas who likely oblige in sympathy of my pathetic presentation. Also been losing a lot of fish...not missing strikes...but losing fish. Not 100% sure why, but have my theories. Alas, I have much to learn. Which is fine with me because all it means is that I need to go back

Bumped into both Adrian and BigDave. BigDave I was meeting for the first time. While I'm not sure how Adrian fared, as he went west and I went east, suffice it to say by the time our paths crossed, BigDave was all out of "treats". BigDave, I hope those emergency rations helped prolong your streak, and thanks for letting me partake of your leftovers for 45min or so. Didn't mean to intrude on your space. You just seemed so busy, I didn't think you'd mind.

Anyway, if you haven't been out lately...get out there for God's sake!!! Chalk it up to general health and well being if you have to. But just get out there. I look forward to seeing the reports.

You have to pay your dues and put in your time. Last year I had an awful season. Made a lot of mistakes. This year is much better. When it all comes together you'll know its worth it all. As for the missed fish check your hook sharpness. Hang in there. FishHawk

killer day

What a great morning to explore NM and observe the structural changes from last year. I stubled across the right combination of sun angle, wind directon and current early in the day and didn't move much from there. Landed quite a few fish over 30" by lunch and Suess witnessed me break off a fish damn near 40" at my feet.

Adrian nice meeting you and Jeff thanks for the exra ammunition. Both flies caught fish after you left - especially liked the the tan one on the Varivas. Had no problem with you moving in...especially becaue the fish were passing by me before they got to you

Nice seeing the Forum guys on the water this weekend.

Dave

Don't you mean 6/16?? In any case, 6/17 was just as good.

What a time to be out on the water! Great seeing the gang again.
