June Spey Tying Roundtable
Thanks to all who attended the May meeting. We tied all three version of the Sol Duc by Syd Glasso and it was very educational. Not in the attached photo how the body tapers neatly from the silk through the dubbing. This is the trademark of Syd's tying style.
For June we will be tying the Scrimshaw Spey. Since it is June it is a good time to be fishing alevin type patterns and the Scrimshaw is a new pattern I developed based on input from a variey of experts fishing 'the bloom'.
Here is the Recipe
Scrimshaw Spey by Jack Cook
Hook – Alec Jackson Spey, Black
Thread – Pearsall’s Gossamer #11a, Scarlet
Tag and Underlayment – Flat Silver Tinsel
Spey Hackle – Steelhead Anglers Spey Hackle, Olive
Rib – Oval Silver Tinsel
Body – Steelhead Anglers Silk-Berlin Wool, Ivory
Collar – Gadwall, Dyed Red
Wing – Lady Amherst Tail Slips
The June Meeting will be June 18, 6:30-9:00pm at River Run Anglers in Carnation, (425) 333-4446
It is not important how you fish but that you fish....
