Cool Sunday Schoolie at Old Saybrook

Only one, but it sure felt nice! A fat, feisty sixteen incher hit an olive/chartreuse/white clouser dead-drifted at the causeway during the bottom half of the tide. I stayed for a couple hours but couldn't dredge up another. Saw a few worms so I tied on a worm fly as a dropper and gave that a try for a while with no success.

I've been wondering how that spot would fish early in the season.....it sure is hot late! Maybe I'll have to sneak down there sometime in the next few weeks to check things out.

Thanks for the report, and well done on your first striper of the season.

Thanks guys. I've been skunked before and I'll get skunked again, but sometimes it's really nice to catch even one!

FishHawk: I wasn't wading, but according to my digital thermometer the water was "pretty darn cold" :hehe:

Actually, I do have a cheap thermometer in my freshwater gear bag but I didn't bring it with me so I can't be more specific about the water temp.
