I am thinking of installing a VHF radio and a stereo on my boat. Do I need two antenae? Can I combine the two? Is the radio antena just a wire? What have you guys done?
I use a handheld VHF and to date no music in the boat, I like the idea of nothing above the windscreen (that way the only thing in the way of my casts is me, or you! ) And I don't go very far from land , so range is not a problem. The handheld has not failed me yet!
Sorry Eddie, not much help here!
Good timing - just came in from installing my GPS, VHF & FM antennae on top of the t-top.
There is a signal splitter you can install on your VHF antennae but I just am not crazy about anything messing with my signal if I need to transmit in an emergency situation.
An AM/FM antennae is $18 at West marine, for a boat without a t-top I would go with the wire you install on your windscreen - nothing to get in the way.
Just like the wind sheild on the car, thanks Roop.
