It may be the angle of the picture, but do you have any concerns about the hook gape? It could be fine and I'm just not seeing it fully, but I'm wondering about hooking ability.
Yes Mark..good point..no pun intended... it is a 8/0 and the gap is a lot bigger that you thing if you held it in your hand... but maybe the safest way next time id go to a 10/0....
reminds me of a massive hit juro had topwater while fishing the honeyhole. scared us all...in a good way. 'twas a silly and memorable sunset of fishing.
Reminds me of that ol Gibbs Blue Mackerel color. John, have you put that big boy on a scale? Just a thought...If you put a smaller spreader toward the front can you make a pencil popper and save it for me? :smokin:
I love this fly! It looks similar to a tuna trolling lure. I could see it being used out in the deep blue depths for tuna or marlin on a heavy weight flyrod. I can't wait to try and make some myself.
Jay Horton gave me the idea of getting Bulsa wood dowls so you can cut them to the shape and length you want... makes it better than buying precut Poppers....
