Board Question...

I am about to get back to building up content pages for Volume 2 and thought I'd ask about your feelings on this bulletin board.

Do you think it's complicated to sign up or sign in?

Did the questions in the "edit profile" screen (same as sign in) seem confusing?

What do you think of the navigator menu on the top left?

Should I conceal the member profiles thread? There are 13 out of 45 members who have posted in the thread so it appears unpopular. You can just click on any post to see the person's information anyway. (My preference is to keep it - when I read Art Burton's profile I want to salute his lifelong dedication to flyfishing).

Would it be helpful if I added a HOW-TO description on the main FlyTalk page?

What would be your biggest single request?

RE:Board Question...

Juro,
Sign in or up is simple.
I have not found an edit profile screen.??
No problems with the top left navigation!
I can live with or without any member profiles....but I do check for new ones.
I'm not concerned about any "how to's".
As for any single biggest request...can you turn February into May?

RE:Board Question...

I can see your sense of humor is still sharp despite the doldrums! I'd love to change Feb->May but the administrator password is only so powerful

The edit profile screen is opened by clicking on the index card icon which looks like

If you hold the mouse over any icon, a pop-up will describe it's function.

I look forward to getting some stripah with you... or since you're now an ablie addict we'll have to hook up for some of that too.

stay warm,
juro

RE:Board Question...

Those of you who were on board early saw the many other boards. There was one that I kind of miss - the last one with the multiple views.

I will be putting it back on line over the weekend. There will be a new additional link for the experimental board.
Then the Forum will vote for the following:

1) Go back to this one all by itself
2) Keep the >new< board as the open discussion board while this one is the archive system

Stay tuned, please participate in the test period.

RE:Board Question...

Answers:
*No not complicated to sign up.
*Edit PRofile is not confusing
*Navigator Menu works well enough. Can't think of what to add.
*I like Member Profiles (although I feel like a ham for blathering on about who I am)
*A "how to" would definately help newcomers, especially the UB code stuff
*Biggest request: thin out the chafe to concentrate discussions until traffic increases.
*We didn't get enough time in with the other board software but I liked this one better at the time.

Observation: I've noticed board traffic drop off on all boards lately. RT has 3 running, all active. Jay's is still active too. I see a general wash out happening and fear another version here will dilute us evan further. I have recently come to learn for myself, that I like one "comfortable" board rather than one with the Most/Best information/traffic. I guess I don't want all the info and tips at once. I want to learn slowly and develop good habits, traditions, and friendships. So hanging around this one board, and going to a few UFT meetings, and emailing some friends cuts it for me this winter. It's hard to describe but there is something weird about having all the knowledge available to catch let's say stripers, and none of the dues paid on the water. I'll take a little knowledge at a time thanks. And the other stuff that's better here; the stories, the graphics, the spirit, makes this the best place for me.
Just my 2 cents and hope it somehow helps.

RE:Board Question...

Juro,
Looking forward to fishing with you this upcoming season! As for becoming an Albie addict ( and bonito)...let's just say that if I could find a decent paying job down the Cape ( or the Vineyard )....I'd move there! The stripers are great....but those tunoids PULL! And there aren't any up here on the Merrimack!!

RE:Board Question...

Welcome back Luis!

I was just thinking about writing to see if things were OK. Very sorry to hear the unfortunate news.

It's good to see that gorgeous brown again. I've received some high regards about your article from a Patagonian fellow that I need to pass your way. I'll forward his email, and the reference to a top gun guide whom he recommends we talk to.

He sent some beautiful photos as well... I gotta think photography's much easier down there with all that incredible scenery!

Talk soon,
Juro

RE:Board Question...

All works well for me. One suggestion if I may, if you have the time one steelhead story a week will do wonders for my state of mind through the winter. I have not had a chance to travel much for fishing but when I do the pacific northwest will be my first stop and the steelhead will be my first choice of fish. Recently my brother loaned me a book called Return to the River it,s about that area and the mismanagement of the rivers have you read it.

RE:Board Question...

Hi Tim,

Not only would I love to talk steel once in a while but if you're headed out west lets' talk about hooking up with a few of my hardcore buddies and hitting some secret holes where the fish torpedo dry flies in the fall. Talk about weak knees!

I am considering buying a software package called "dazzle" that lets you take 8mm film footage and make mpeg clips with it. I have some footage I'd like to put on line here... click and watch those big boyz do their thing. Also some coho action in the salt and orcas alongside the boat.

It would really make our coastal blitzes stand out too if we had animation! Casting sequences, easy.

I'm convinced I need it, now to work on the wife
