Wind Farm Update - FYI

Read in the Patriot Ledger last night

Winergy LLC is proposing 850 turbines from Gloucester to Falmouth. All but 3 of their propsed sites are in federal water. State water turbines woulf be 10 each in Gloucester, Falmouth & Truro.

The rest of the proposed turbines are as follows:
Horshoe Shoals - 130
Nantucket 1 - 231
Nantucket 2 - 212
Nantucket 3 - 169
Davis Bank - 206

I think alternative energy is fine I just think these companies should pay for the land they are using, lease it maybe, and raise their own funds vs. using grants generated from tax dollars.

Roop,
Thanks for the update. Where is the line between state and federal water is it just a straight 10 miles out 5 miles. I know I used to have a clue on this, that's hard evidence that I've lost another group of brain cells

I'm all for alternate energy and more so for conservation. It is however doubtful that anyone is going to pull the plug on the nuke plant when the whirly birds kick in. I'd classify these as additional, possibly more profitable energy sources.

Now if we could put a few in Chatham and store the energy until I got there on a cloudy day . :hehe:
