testing

Testing new setup. Tried login in before but old sign in parameters did not work, so I signed in anew. Server seems to be working very s-l-o-w-l-y. Hope it's not a sign of things to come

RE:testing

Luis -

Glad you got back in. I noticed slow operation from a modem line at home, but it is flying from a direct internet connection at work.

How were you reaching the site? If it is slow, I will make another move. I've already informed the host that I will not stay with a slow connection and have only agreed to month to month this time around.

Keep me informed.

RE:testing

I am running from home via modem. I have not noticed it being any slower than the previous host.

RE:testing

That's a relief Bob. I have noticed some slow times, but then switched to NetZero (the free ISP) from CompuServe to see if there was a difference. BIG difference - the NetZero stuff was fast, Compuserve s-l-o-w.

In any case, Customer Service followed up on my phone call with an offer to do a packet trace analysis for me. That's good service! I couldn't even get the other guys to reply, and they don't even do email - only the service request form on their members page.

Just looked on the service page. If you have continued slow response, send me the ISP IP# and they will do a trace route for us.

Also, there are hooks to all kinds of goodies that I will plug in over time. FlyTalk will include chat, free-for-all link page which allows anybody to put their favorite links up on it. That's just the start, I am on a pretty feature-rich eCommerce package in case we want to do a volume discount buying thing later.

The best is yet to come!

RE:testing

Juro and Bob: the slow page loading was from work (direct ethernet connection). I don't even want to think what it would be like from home. Things seem to have normalized now. I'll keep you posted if I detect trouble.

RE:testing

Funning thing right after my last post, things did seem to slow down a bit. But again right now all seems fine.

Looking forward to trying to break some new stuff.

RE:testing

The new host is service-oriented and their heart is in the right place. Let's hope their networks are too.

We should all focus on content for the rest of the site where possible. I will be putting a follow-up thread and guest book on each topic page to make it more interesting to visit each "room".

I invited a larger group to get more feedback and to light a fire under my butt. Any contributions from your experts would be appreciated. We have anonymous ftp, BTW.

RE:testing

Also, there will be a lot of good stuff cheap coming soon in the publicmarket page.

Bob -

OK if I post the discount rod list from BNTC? I think I have a copy from Cher.

RE:testing

I will email you the updated spread sheet.
It's excel and and the workbook has multiple worksheets containing up to the minute rod inventory. There is one sheet titled Rep Rods. That is the one you can post although there are no prices, but the can be added.

RE:testing

Well, it all seems to work OK from Australia. No speed or sign-in/log-on problems.

Looks great, I'll spread the word downunder.

Regards,
Ken

Ken -

Great to hear from you! You are living proof that the web extends the reach of flyfishing freindship as far as the earth's diameter! I have a fabulous scan of fishing out on Brewster Flats... I'll post it tomorrow.

Keep in touch, looking forward to tales from down under. Let's do a story about "walkabout fly-fishing" or "flies down under"

Talk soon,
Juro
