Presuming...

... that we can lump all of the other members of the pike family in with that category; I go mostly for pickerel in FW. Smallies would run a close second.

By default I choose freshwater bass because they're the most available in my area, but this doesn't mean that at times I'd rather prefer to fish the salt or hit a trout stream.

I prefer variety.

I'm Thinking about it!

Whew! That is a toughie. I know what I prefer, but I know deep down that depending where I was put down on this earth, I'D BE FISHIN' FOR SOMETHIN'!

Right now, it's all species of trout, steelies, salmon, and anything else in the "salmonid" variety. Tough to answer, because 6 months of the year, it's the stream varieties, and the other 6 months it's trib fishing!

I'm having too much fun to even think about it!

Cohocola-
Perhaps a better question is which fish would you chase given your 'druthers. Travel, money, equipment no object.

Hands down: Steelhead!

What to fish for. Well I like to fish skinny water and what runs in there are /is any of the salmon like fishes,Steelhead,Cutts,Dollies,Chums(where legal),Silvers,Kings(where legal),Humpies in the odd years. So my voting would be just that. I can't just vote for one type as you didn't lump them up like that.
