When I returned home about 6:30 PM, I noticed a couple of little black stoneflies on the door to my house. These are the first sited this year. The hatches have officially started!!!!

Juro,

March Browns, I haven't found in my brook. The typical timing for them here in NE is much later in the season, May/June.

These early stones will continue for quite a while on warmer days. There may also be some midges over the next month/month and a half, but that's about it.

TinMan,
I live out in Wales, MA.

Oh, I see. That's a nice location - quick to the Swift, Wachusett area, down to Rhody for a dose of the brine, etc.

Perhaps you could help a few of us desalinate this spring in some of the central and western Mass streams and stillwaters you know?
