March 1st
“The Amazing Underwater World of Gamefish: FEEDING FRENZY”
A Video Presentation by Mike Laptew: AKA The Diving Fisherman

You won’t need to slip into a wet suit or don mask, snorkel, and fins -- Mike Laptew, “The Diving Fisherman” will take you into the secret world of all your favorite saltwater game fish.

Remarkable new footage of striped bass, bluefish, fluke, tuna, and sailfish will show you how these apex predators actually feed. In addition to lots of great fishing techniques, Mike will also focus on the many different baitfish along the East Coast.

This insightful footage will help you choose the right lures and the right flies to catch more and larger fish.

Mike's presentation will be held at the Downstairs Theatre, Nashua Public Library (2 Court Street; Nashua, NH) at 10:30 a.m. Please come early, as seating is limited to the first 100 people. There will be a door prize offered. Admission is free of charge.

March 5th
Public Hearing on Proposed Rule to Increase Striped Bass Limit

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing to consider a proposed state rule change on increasing the daily bag limit for striped bass.

The proposed rule would increase the daily limit on striped bass to two fish. Currently, anglers may take one striped bass per day. The proposed rule also would set a new size limitation, specifying that only one of the two fish may be over 40 inches in total length. The minimum length, 28 inches, would remain the same as under current rules.

The hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 7 p.m., at the Urban Forestry Center at 45 Elwyn Road in Portsmouth. This is New Hampshire's only Public Hearing on this matter.

March 22nd
CCA-NH's 5th Annual Banquet & Auction

CCA-NH will hosts its 5th Annual Banquet & Auction at Yoken's Restaurant, Portsmouth, on March 22, 2003.

The doors open at 5:00 PM for cocktails and fish tales. Kayaks, rod & reel outfits, books, artwork, flies & plugs, lines, guided trips and much, much more will be offered for raffle and auction. Don't miss this chance to support the protection of our local gamefish and their ecosystem (and to scoop up some great fishing equipment and paraphernalia just before the 2003 season begins!)

This year we are offering a special CCA membership program. With the purchase of a banquet ticket, new or renewing members can add 12 months to their membership for only $10 (a $15.00 savings!) Additionally, new members will be entered into a $200 Kittery Trading Post gift certificate raffle to be drawn the night of the banquet. Look for the CCA mailing in late February to take advantage of this limited program.

For more information and to reserve your tickets or table now, contact Eric Roach at 603-475-0773 or by e-mail at eroach@ehr.org. See you at the banquet!
