Went out today with a guy from the web who contacted me and wanted me to go out in his boat and show him how to catch big fish . So I went and caught big fish. He unfortunately only caught small fish but had a good time. He has a 27 Shamrock with a big cabin. We totalled 12 fish for the day the biggest going to me at 46" 46 lbs. on the boga. The funny thing about the whole day was while I was fighting a 25 lb. fish we took a big wake and the boat rocked hard, I lost my balance and while trying to regain it I leaned on his transom door which abruptly opened and sent me for a swim. Like a true fisherman I had a death grip on my rod and the fish on the other end. The guy's I was with pulled me feet first back into the boat and I finished landing my fish. I have a nasty bruise on my right leg to show for it and other than a bruised ego I will live. The guy's had a real good laugh on my account and I didn't mind too much after I cooled down. I was a bit pissed about the door just opening like that and it is not a very good design in my opinion, thankfully it is summer time and not fall or it could have been alot worse.
Slinger,
Don't really know what the going rate is but I could get someone out for pretty short money right now being that I am still not working But I still don't have the license as of yet so if someone were to come fishing with me and afterwards wanted to give me some gas money I don't think that is against the rules. Seriously I am going to get the license as soon as possible, just have to get working again first.
Not a single message??? We fished today and got some real nice 20-25 lb. fish and my buddy from NJ dropped a monster fish that broke 50 lb. braid above the bimini knot. Man that is some strength, I have never had that stuff snap before . We had awesome top water flyrod action all afternoon on the ebb, fish were all over the place chasing baby butters and small fry that I could not ID......Anchovies??? Got one bluefish and the rest were all bass up to about 13 lbs. on the fly. We saw some real bruisers mixed in with the smaller fish but they were very selective and it took us awhile to figure out the right pattern. We finally settled on crease fly's fished on floaters and Int. lines. That was the ticket to the fights.
Tightlines,
Mike Mayo
