Greetings folks;
It's been a while since I've made a post, so I thought I'd drop a line regarding the flyfishing show in Somerset, NJ (I imagine the same deal as the Marlboro show). It was held this past weekend (Jan 25 - 27). There was the usual bounty of tying equipment, rods and reels, destinations and instruction. I spoke with some folks from New Orleans that guide for redfish just about year-round and my wife and I have been talking about 'Naw-lins' for some time. I think we might go for it - authentic Cajun cuisine in the French Quarter and redfish on top of it!
I saw some of the "ring-leaders" as well - Popovics working at his vise in front of a large croud, Puglisi (my wife insists his flies resemble stuffed animals) and Cathy and Barry Beck. Barry set me up with a couple of rods to cast - RPLXi 11 weight and XP 10 weight. Casting the XP was the most memorable experience for me at the show (VERY easy to throw the long line).
I'm looking forward to the fly-swap, I'm not sure when it is to take place, but I've got some flies I'd like to share.
Best wishes,
Billy
