Obsessed as I am, I could not resist an early morning run to Poppy before my meeting at 9 in N. Falmouth. I arrived at the channel at about 5:30am to the end of a fairly high incoming tide with a considerable chill in the air and a challenging wind to my side. For about a half hour I tossed my beastie of a herring fly and found no takers. I switched over to an intermediate line and a white/chartruese clouser and started finding some small schoolies. I found more schoolies as I swept the beach on the way back to the car.
Maybe not worth getting up at 3:45 but still fun.
