Great News From Maine. A federal judge on Wednesday ruled that two large Salmon Farmers had to stop discharging polltants into the Atlantic and admonished the Goverment for being slow to respond!
U.S. District Court Judge Gene Carter also fined the two companies $50,000 each and ordered that they idle there operations for up to three years to allow the ocean floor to regenerate.
He also barred the farms from using salmon stocks from sources other than the North Atlantic.
The National Enviromental Law Center, representing the plantiffs applauded the ruling and predicted that it will have far reaching consequences.
"After todays ruling , salmon farming will never be the same" Said David Nichols of the center.:hehe:
This could be a big deal for the "best coast" too!
