But I think the fish are safe. Funny, but I seem to hear that said about me whenever I'm around the river.

Below is a pic of a cohort of mine taken when we were doing a steelhead count for the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game. It is truly amazing how close they'll let you aprroach them as you float by downstream.

I guess some of us just can't get enough!

Beautiful river!

I hope this means you found your camera. I will be heading out of Juan De Fuca for Sitka on Saturday. What was that line out of the spy movie Telephone," Many miles to go before I sleep"? I never whine about anything as much as the 900 miles to sitka at 7.5 knots.
The late counts down here were very good, there are still unspawned female winter runs at the Redd Sites.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Sinktip - If I may...

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

-Robert Frost
