A terrible accident took place on Saturday in Milford CT.On Saturday morning 2 men were fishing out of a 12 FT. Carolina Skiff in very heavy seas and unfortunately the boat capsized and the two men drowned. I live very close to where all of this took place and it was no day to be out on the water especially a 12 ft. boat. This really bothered me terribly and I hate to see this happen, I feel for the men and their families, two lives gone that should not be. As the story goes they were fishing and somehow they got line wrapped in the motor effectively rendering it inoperative, when this happened the large waves and wind conspired to capsize the boat and throw the men into the water. The water temps right now are hovering around 60 deg. and they were also not wearing PFD's. I don't know if they would have survived with them on but they sure would have had a better chance if they had them on. Please all be careful out there and use common sense and good judgement, the sea is a very unforgiving environment and it will kill you in the blink of an eye. This time of year the fishing is real good and sometimes we forget that there are things to consider before venturing out on the water. My prayers and condolence's go out to their families as this must be a very hard thing for them to be going through.
Tightlines,
