I need a rod for king salmon . I am considering a scott, winston or t&t.I have fished several scott rods but have no experience with the others. I am just looking for some info from someone who has experience with these 3 brands.
tomt
first of all , why limit yourself to those three brands? Do you want a spey or single hander? I would say 10wt minimum. Most of the time you will be throwing a heavy shooting head for kings if you are swinging so you IMO you want to consider a fast action rod with a lot of back bone.
I've been using the Scott 9' 10wt S3s and am very pleased. It's light, casts smoothly, has good sensitivity and plenty of backbone. I've been able to turn fish up to #40 without too much difficulty.
