Short ferrule overlap!

In a bunch of blemished blanks there are a few where the top ferrule (on a four piece) that do overlap far too little - like 3 cm or somewhat more than an inch.
The fit is ok.

I would feel better if I got a better overlap - could I try using a fine hone or sandpaper either inside the female ferrule or on the male ferrule??? Or should I just leave it the way it is???

Any advice appreciated!

Tight lines!

IMO it is a bad situation. No way will you be able to get the fit you need by grinding and still maintain the integrity of the blank. You are going to put in a lot of work, expence of seat, cork, guides for a rod that will break sooner or later. Good blanks are not that expensive.
