To move or not to move...

Just back from a bonefish adventure. The wind blew from the E the whole time and fish were hard to get to eat. We found that by getting a good cast and not stripping AT ALL we could get the fish to eat. Move the fly, an inch, no love. I've never been permit fishing but this is what permit fishing sounds like to me by the description of others. I think the wind has been in that pattern for quite some time and by weather reports seems not to have changed since.

This was a new take on a sometimes easy sometimes impossible fish to catch. Fly type seemed to have little bearing on success. We caught fish and got rejections on gotchas, brewers, simrams, puffs, clousers, merkins, and a few other custom flies. Leading me to believe that presentation and not necesarily fly selection was the key to success or failure.
