I am new to the sport and i am wondering what color line do you use, and why.does it really matter, what color. I will be fishing small streams and small lakes.it will be 5wf.
Spooky fish may not bite if they see a bright colored line. I'm sure somebody will post that this is nonsense, but fish aren't color blind. I use a white floating line most of the time which definitely is bright, but at least white is a color found in nature. Yellow or orange are not really colors that a trout would expect to see floating down a stream. Just my .02
For most TROUT situations, I use a chartruese line and have no problems. In a spring creek situation I use a natural or gray/green line to avoind spooking the fish.
