Picked up some beautiful bucktails from Bear's Den yesterday. They're doing their own 'custom' dying. As Jim W & I believe Fred A had mentioned before, they're subtle colors. I picked up a seafoam green, grayish/blue, and a light, light lavender. They also had a melon and (I think) a light pink. Very, very nice and not like some of the garish coloring you find on some tails. Had some with some very nice, long fur in the 'meaty' section of the tail.
Nice shop too. 1st time there and all I'd heard about Scott et al was well founded.
I was at the Bear's den today taking some pictures for the rodbuilding section of the site. Here's a shot of some of the bucktail colors. I also learned that those digital cameras are not as quick as an slr, I got some great shots of the floor.
Nice stuff! Great to hear someone's doing some custom dying in the area. Manuel Bernardo, former owner of the Quality Flyfishing Shop in Port Angeles Washington used to do a lot of custom dying and what a difference.
Thanks, I am definitely going to make the trip over there soon.
That sea foam green looks too good... They must do Mail order.. I"ll call them on Monday. Thanks for the tip.
