I was there this morning at 6:30am to fish the last of the incoming tide. As I was walking out to the point I couldn't help but notice a couple wet footprints trails coming back – an indication that some fishing in the dark may have occurred. There were two other flyfishers and a few gearslingers fishing. No fish were seen nor hooked, although I had four follows and missed the three that took a shot at my popper at the rod tip. I overheard a conversation between two of the gearguys and they were talking about a big school of herring that was at the point yesterday morning but not today.
If you can, I would suggest you hit these morning flood tides as often as you can and soon, the bait, fish and you be there at the same time.
Leland.
