Two weeks ago I was down in Chatham and picked up a book that was in the "Editors Edition" box. These are books that have not yet hit the market but are a step away and are Editors proof. They sell them for a $1.00 and I am half way though. It was Copyrighted in 2002 so I do not know if it was ever published... but it is by Denise Gess and William Lutz and tells the story of the deadliest Fire in American History. A fire that raged at the same time as the great Chicago fire. 2000 people died in the area of the lumber towns and mills of Peshtigo, Marinette,Menominee and other river and Bay communities around Green Bay. An incredible story of Extreme dry conditions couple with gail force winds and a birthing of the US weather service. I was wondering if anyone knows if the book got published and has it been seen by current area residents?
