Fond memories of this place back in the late sixties, early seventies. Sitting on the deck in the afternoon sipping Planters Punch or wall to wall people boogeying to a local Boston band (Northeast Expressway I think) and the floor seemingly going through a vertical six inch traverse in beat to the music. Other than that, I guess I don't remember much else...

MEMORIES

Fred A,
In the early 70"s, I lived with a bunch of people in a W. Dennis house, I slept in the garage. My days consisted of hanging out and surfing at Nausset and Newcombs Hollow. When the surf was flat, (and no tourist chicks to chase) I was fishin for blues, diggin clams, or bummin Shark for dinner off the scup boats in Hyannis. Nights I worked as a cook, (and sometimes bouncer/toast guy/doorman/E.M.T.) at the Egg and I on Main Street. We would all pile into the car and go watch the sunset up at Brewster Hill or Hyannisport Country Club parking lot. And more than one night off was spent doing hair-raising drives up to Falmouth, always seeing if we could "tap a Harry" on the way.
Sorry to see the old place go, but thanks for the memories! This one brought me right back.

The Egg and I is still there, I think.

Don't like to think about hair raising rides and other dumb things I did in those years. I call them "cringe thoughts" and do my best to avoid them.

There was a place across the street and up the hill from the Casino. Brothers or The Brothers Four I think was the name. A group of us use to go in there and harras a couple of comics that played the place. Dick Doroughety (sp) was one and I can't remember the other guy, who had a pretty good Elvis routine.

There was a big old barn of a place at Mashpee circle called On the Rocks. Met my wife there the beginning of the summer of 73 and soon became domesticated. Timing was right cause I was pretty much burned out by then.

Fred... I remember well.... first to go for me in Dennis was the Cape Pines, then The Lincoln Lodge, Then the Mustashe... the Chatham Squire and the Beachcomber are atleast still there... Fred, what was the Place in Falmounth.. I forget the name, but it was up in back from the ball field I think and was a rooming house... actually a hippy haven... I stayed there one night and it was run by kids basically.... I had a tee-shirt..... can't find it now.

Striblue, don't feel bad, I lived there and still can't remember the name of it. It will come to me. Shows you the kind of time we had there if I can't remember the name. And then the times at the Casino and upstairs at the Wharf, across the street at the Brothers 4 and down in Mashpee at On The Rocks. James Montgomery Blues Band, Pousart Dart Band, Duke and the Drivers, Beaver Brown... The list goes on. Very fond memories, I hope my kids are more civil and responsible. I can dream, can't I.
I'm thankful I made it thru those years, but I would not trade them for anything.
Happy Thankgiving

Jesus - just on Case's post alone I went back to all that long ago- some very interesting times! just a reminder to us all - it's said if we 'remember' the Sixties, then we weren't there - which is funny, because we all remember our experiences with stuff like this.
