Speaking of Slides this one takes the first place award, what a mess I suppose some of you local fellows will be posting a detailed report. It sure looked huge on the nightly TV news.:frown:
I drove by today and saw them staging thousands of sandbags on the side of the road. Cops were blocking the logging road that accessed the slide but I can tell you that below the slide the water was milky and above it was green.
They've been sandbagging the heck out of it to keep it out of the houses that are on the inside turn of the "school bus turnaround" hole, and water was lapping at those sandbags yesterday...and the river came up almost four feet with the rain deluge we had last night, just in the last ten hours.
I suspect, and fear, that those houses are quite wet right now...the news hasn't been covering it much past the first day of taking pics of the slide, but I bet it will be on the news tonight again, if my suspicion is correct and the houses are swimming for their lives right now.
I drove by the river today and it has gone up a very very large amount since saturday. No sandbagging would stop those houses from getting wet. I wonder what effects this will have on the smolt in that river.
